Astronomy research is undergoing a profound transformation as more and more big data is generated by large survey telescopes. The influence of data-driven methods on scientific discovery has penetrated all fields of astronomy research, and the new idea of AI for Science, represented by artificial intelligence technology, has brought new opportunities for scientific research. This presentation will first introduce the requirements for handling and processing astronomical big data produced by large survey telescopes. Then, some big model techniques evolved from deep learning will be shown, which can be used to fuse multi-modal data. Finally, the talk will show some new astronomical dedicated models developed by NAOC and Zhejiang Lab, which will provide service for the astronomical community in the near future.

报告人简介

Dr. Luo Ali is a researcher at the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the LAMOST Operation and Development Center. He is also a professor at the University of  Chinese Academy of Sciences. He led the development of LAMOST data processing and analysis system, which produced the world's largest sample of sky survey spectral data, and built the world's largest database of accurate stellar physical parameters. His main research field is the data mining of massive astronomical data, the use of artificial intelligence technology to discover a large number of special and rare celestial bodies in massive datasets. He has published more than 150 related academic papers, and has been highly cited by Elsevier judges in recent years. He won the 2019 Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the 2020 Beijing Science and Technology Progress Second Prize.The Advanced Science and Technology Award of 2024 World Internet Conference.
