-- Venue changed from Kunming to Lijiang--

The venue of workshop has been changed from Kunming to Lijiang. Lijiang city is located at northwest of 320 km from Kunming. In the Lijiang city, there is a beautiful Old Town of Lijiang which is a UNESCO Heritage Site. The venue (hotel) is located IN the Old Town.

--Deadline of registration extended to 2011 March 31--

The new deadline of registration is 2011 March 31. However, to book a room of the Hexi hotel, please send us the registration form as soon as you can. There is no guarantee of hotel booking by LOC for late registration.

Dear Colleagues,

  With this 2nd announcement of the 4th East Asia VLBI workshop to be held during 18-20 April 2011 in Lijiang, Yunnan of China, we would like to draw your attention to the following items.

SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE

　The first phase of East Asia VLBI Network (EAVN) observations started in 2010. The developments of telescopes, instruments and VLBI correlator (KJJVC) are making steady progress. It is expected that the EAVN will be able to achieve some more remarkable sciences. As a continuous effort in promoting the VLBI collaboration, the main motivation of this workshop is to review the newest developments in both instrumentation and science, and to discuss the future collaboration in various VLBI-related fields.

SCIENCE SESSIONS

  This workshop will include sessions of the following topics:

1) current status and development of institute/telescope

2) star formation, evolved star, pulsar and XRB in the MW

3) AGN and other extragalactic sources

4) Geodesy, Space and Planetary Science

5) Techniques & developments in VLBI

REGISTRATION

  Please, send the filled registration form to both Dr. Min Wang (wm@ynao.ac.cn) and Dr. Kazuya Hachisuka (khachi@shao.ac.cn). Participants who wish to give a presentation are requested to submit title, abstract  (about 100 words) and type of presentation (oral or poster). The length of each oral presentation is 10 to 20 minutes.

  Note the new deadline of registration (March 31, 2011).

REGISTRATION FEE　

  There is a  registration fee  to cover the  admission to all scientific sessions, conference material, meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), coffee breaks, conference banquet.　

  The registration fee is 1,000 RMB and will be collected on site in cash.

VISA

Participants who request an invitation letter should complete the registration immediately.

VENUE & ACCOMMODATION

  The conference will be held in the Hexi (和玺) Hotel which is located in the Old Town of Lijiang. We have made  block  reservations  for the  registered  participants at the Hexi Hotel with a rate of single and standard (double) room of 420 RMB per night. Therefore, you don’t need to make room reservation by yourself. All you need to do is to inform us your arrival and departure date.

HOW TO GET LIJIANG

  Lijiang airport is located at south of the city, about 30 km away. Unfortunately the Lijiang airport is not international, but there are many flights from major airports in China. From the airport to the Hexi Hotel, you can take a taxi (100-120 RMB) or a shuttle bus (15 RMB) to the city center. Because car cannot enter the Old Town, the participants should walk last 100 (or few 100) meters. For participants who will arrive at Lijiang airport in night/midnight, the LOC can arrange a taxi upon request. But, please provide the LOC details of your flight (flight # and arrival time)

EXCURSION

There are many sightseeing places around Lijiang. Details will be announced later . If the participants want to visit other sites after the workshop, the LOC will be happy to help (booking tour/hotel and etc).
